Mr. Stimson joined Eastern Investment Advisors in 2008 from W.R. Hambrecht & Co, where he had served as head of Technology Research and senior analyst since 2005. Prior to working at W.R. Hambrecht & Co he served as a managing director and senior software analyst at Bank of America since 2002. Prior to his service with Bank of America, from 1999 to 2002 he was a director and senior industry analyst at Merrill Lynch and was recognized for his work in emerging Internet-based technologies, which is still studied at leading universities. Mr. Stimson was also a portfolio manager and analyst at Pioneer Investment Management, specializing in Software, IT Services, Aerospace, Building Industry, Capital Goods, Special Situations, and Travel/Leisure.
Industry awards include the following: Starmine's Earnings Estimate Accuracy ranked Mr. Stimson #2 in 2005 and Institutional Investor Team Runner-Up and Institutional Investor Hedge Fund Runner-Up in 2004; the Greenwich Investor Survey ranked him third in 2003; and Institutional Investor ranked him the #1 "Up & Comer" in the Computer Services Sector in 2000. In addition, Mr. Stimson's views are often quoted in Barron's, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, Investor Business Daily, and other leading financial publications. Mr. Stimson has been a guest speaker on CNBC, Bloomberg TV, and Kudlow & Cramer, often addressing key trends in technology investing.
Education
Mr. Stimson has over 24 years of experience in the investment industry and acquired his CPA while at the international accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand. He earned his B.S. in Accounting and B.A. in Managerial Economics from Ithaca College in 1984 and a Master in Finance from Boston College in 1995 and holds Series 7, 63, 86, and 87 licenses.
