Eastern Bank to Sponsor Weymouths Summer Concert and Movie Series Popular summertime event will continue thanks to agreement between Mayor, Eastern WEYMOUTH, Mass., June 17, 2003 Mayor David M. Madden today announced that Eastern Bank has agreed to sponsor Weymouth Recreations summer concert and movie series that starts July 10 at the Ralph Talbot Amphitheatre. Dubbed The Weymouth Recreation and Eastern Bank 2003 Concerts and Movie Series, the popular summertime event had been jeopardized by state cuts in local aid to cities and towns. However, after a meeting earlier this spring with Mayor Madden, Eastern officials agreed to underwrite the cost of the six-week series. Were pleased to have Eastern Bank as a partner and a sponsor of this summers concert and movie series, Mayor Madden said. This collaborative effort underscores the importance of public-private partnerships, particularly in difficult economic times. I would like to thank Eastern Bank for their generosity and support. Last year, Eastern hosted an outdoor movie at Legion Field, attracting several hundred guests to a special presentation of the Disney classic Peter Pan. After considering several options for events to promote the opening of its new branch at 1690 Main Street in South Weymouth, Eastern accepted the Mayors offer to sponsor the existing concert and movie series. It really made sense for us to pool our efforts with Weymouth Recreation and maintain a series that has become quite popular among families in recent years, said Joe Bartolotta, Easterns public relations director. The mayor deserves credit for orchestrating this partnership. The schedule for the Weymouth Recreation and Eastern Bank 2003 Concerts and Movie Series is as follows: July 10, Don Altobello and Just Friends, concert, 6:30 p.m. to dusk July 17, Bridgewater Antiphonal Brass, concert, 6:30 p.m. to dusk July 24, Westwood Swing Band, concert, 6:30 p.m. to dusk July 31, Quintessential Brass, concert, 6:30 p.m. to dusk August 7, Snow White, movie, 8:30 p.m. August 14, Monsters, Inc. movie, 8:30 p.m. The series is being held at the Ralph Talbot Amphitheatre next to Town Hall. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs or a blanket for the concerts and movies. In the event of rain, programs will be held in the Abigail Adams Intermediate School Auditorium.
