No matter who you are, you are welcomed and you are valued.
Mission and History
Eastern was founded more than 205 years ago, at a time when banks catered only to the rich and famous. Regular, hardworking people didn’t have access to a bank, so they literally stuffed cash in the mattress to try to keep it safe. Our founders didn’t agree with that way of doing business, so they bucked the trend and set out on a different path to make banking services accessible and understandable to everyone.
To us, doing good things to help people prosper means: providing access to credit and financial services, building strong and diverse communities by providing useful not usurious products and services, and working together to best meet the needs of our customers. Join us for good.
Culture
We know that some people believe that all Banks are the same. We work hard to let people know we are truly different. Most importantly, we are keenly aware that it’s our employees who make all the difference.
We maintain a diverse and inclusive workforce to offer superior banking solutions and service to a diverse array of customers. To do that, we hire people who are talented and want to make a difference. At Eastern, you can do good things that matter.
People who work here are smart, thoughtful, proactive, grounded, team-oriented and community-minded.
We offer a comprehensive rewards packages to all of our employees to make sure they have the support they need to be happy both at and away from work.
We want you to build long-lasting relationships with customers (internally and externally), and so we focus on building long-lasting relationships with you. It is this attention to our people that has allowed us to evolve and grow our business for the past 200 years.
Community Outreach and Involvement
From a growing number of collaborations and volunteer activities, to sponsored events across our footprint, we are deeply and thoroughly involved in the communities we serve.
LGBTQ+ Pride
From being the first company to sign onto GLAD's Amicus brief against DOMA, to providing benefits to same-sex partners, to advocating for gay marriage and transgender equal rights, our support of the LGBTQ+ community is long-standing.

We value and respect the sacrifices of our Veterans and their families. We know that their service prepares them uniquely for work outside of their military service. We are committed to hiring military veterans, and also work with local and national veteran organizations to provide specific support and mentorship.
