A celebration of advancing opportunity for entrepreneurs of color
Join us during Small Business Month to celebrate our local entrepreneurs and a new ecosystem of resources to support them through the Equity Alliance for Business and a dynamic group of business support organizations including Ascendus, Black Economic Council of Massachusetts (BECMA), Interise, and Mill Cities Community Investments (MCCI).
In a fireside chat, leaders from academia, government and the non-profit and for-profit sectors will discuss underrepresented small businesses and solutions shaping their path forward.

Meet Your Speakers
Abby Nguyen-Burke, Senior Vice President and Team Leader,
Equity Alliance for Business, Eastern Bank
Ms. Nguyen-Burke has over 20 years of business and community development experience in the Boston Metro area. She is currently leading a new lending program focused on serving the needs of women entrepreneurs and small business owners who are people of color. Abby is first generation Vietnamese American. Growing up as a refugee, she prioritizes the importance of family and community, and she strives to make a meaningful and lasting impact in the community where she lives and works.
Quincy Miller, Eastern Bank Vice Chair and President
Quincy L. Miller is President of Eastern Bankshares, Inc. and Vice Chair and President of Eastern Bank. Mr. Miller joined Eastern in 2016. He oversees a number of departments, including our Consumer Banking businesses, Business Banking, Institutional Banking and Eastern Wealth Management, and with the Chief Executive Officer, leads the overall strategic direction of Eastern.
Stephen Chan, Steering Committee Member, Asian Community Fund
Mr. Chan brings a range of policy and strategy experience to advancing a prosperous and equitable region. He is a Steering Committee Member of the Asian Community Fund, Advisory Board Member for the Asian Business Empowerment Council, and Board Member of the MA LGBT Chamber of Commerce among many other community advocacy initiatives.
Carmen Panacopoulos, Sr. Business Strategy Manager Federal Reserve Bank of Boston
Ms. Panacopoulos manages Boston Fed relations with financial institutions headquartered in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. She is a Board Member of Massachusetts Growth Capital Corp & Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation & MassHousing and has decades of economic development experience in both the public and private sectors.
Dr. Shakenna Williams, Executive Director of the Center for Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Babson College
Dr. Shakenna K. Williams is an entrepreneur, educator, financial coach, author, and diversity, equity, and inclusion implementer. As the Executive Director of the Center for Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership (CWEL) at Babson College, she notably founded the Black Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership (BWEL) Program and oversees the WIN (Women Innovating Now) Global Lab Accelerator Program and the Diana International Research Institute. They tackle the unique challenges that female founders encounter worldwide in starting, growing, scaling, and sustaining their businesses.
