Eastern Insurance Group Teams Up with Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association for a Free Youth Baseball Clinic in Lowell
Baseball Legends to Demonstrate Baseball Techniques, Life Skills
WORCESTER, Mass. (July 27, 2009) – Eastern Insurance Group today announced that it will host a Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) Legends for Youth clinic in Lowell on Friday, July 31. The clinic will feature Gaylord Perry, Gary Bell, George Foster, Tommy John, Bill Lee, Joe Lefebvre, Skip Lockwood, Dennis Livingston, Bill Monbouquette, Jerry Moses, Bobby Taylor, Tom Yewcic and other Major League Baseball alumni as instructors from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at LeLacheur Park (Home of the Lowell Spinners).
The Lowell clinic is the sixth and final featured stop in the 2009 “Legends for Youth Clinic Services Powered by The Hanover,” a tour of free charitable events taking place at select locations around the country. In addition to helping promote the game of baseball and developing basic baseball skills, the clinics also will focus on building kids’ confidence and self-respect, and their sense of responsibility for themselves and their team—important skills and abilities that will benefit them at home and at school.
Red Sox Mascot Wally the Green Monster also will be on hand to promote The Red Sox Reading Game and Most Valuable Educators programs—two contests developed by The Massachusetts Teachers Association and sponsored by The Hanover Insurance Group Foundation to encourage students to read and write over the summer.
While participation in the event is free and open to all boys and girls ages 6-15, spots are limited to the first 250 children. Internet registration for this event is taking place at www.baseballalumni.com. The company is also donating dozens of tickets to the clinic to local youth organizations.
