Text Banking FAQs 

What is text banking?
Mobile banking’s text banking feature allows you to obtain your account balances and last three transactions via a text message to your mobile device.  Your device does not need to be web enabled.

How do I sign up for text banking?
You must first register your mobile device from your PC by going to Eastern Bank’s Text Message Console. You’ll enter your HomeConnect online banking user ID and password.  On the Text Message set up page, click the link "Register My Device" to sign up for text banking. You will enter the phone number for your mobile device, identify your wireless carrier and specify whether the text message should be sent to your mobile device or email account.

How does text banking work?
Once enrolled, call 866-882-5005 from your registered phone, enter your PIN and in moments, you'll receive your account balance and last three account transactions.

How much does it cost?
Mobile banking is a free service for all Eastern Bank customers.  Your wireless service provider may charge a fee for providing web access on your mobile device, so ask for details on its fees and charges.

How do I change or update my registration information, such as my PIN or phone number?
On your PC, go to Eastern Bank’s Text Message Console.  Login using your HomeConnect ID and password.  On the Text Message Console’s home page, you can edit your registration information or add a new wireless device.

How do I cancel text banking service?
Using your PC, go to Eastern Bank’s Text Message Console.  Login using your HomeConnect ID and password.  On the Text Message Console’s home page, there is a link where you can edit your registration information.  On the Edit Device page, you can elect to delete the wireless device from Text Messaging service.

What if I forget my PIN?
Using your PC, go to Eastern Bank’s Text Message Console.  Login using your HomeConnect ID and password.  On the Text Message Console’s home page, there is a link where you can edit your registration information.  On the Edit Device page, you can view your Text Messaging PIN.

Are my transactions secure?
Yes. Transactions are fully encrypted using 128-bit encryption.

How many text message transactions can I do?
An unlimited number of transactions are allowed.  Your wireless service provider may charge a fee for these transactions.

How quickly does the message go through?
Messages typically go through within seconds. However, messages can take up to 30 minutes depending on your particular wireless carrier. This is because some carriers store messages in a queue that only gets processed periodically.

Where can I find terms and conditions for mobile banking?
Your use of mobile banking to access your Eastern Bank accounts is governed by the terms and conditions of the Eastern HomeConnect® Agreement. To view the HomeConnect Agreement, go to www.easternbank.com/hcterms.

What happens if I lose my phone?
If your phone is lost or stolen, it is unlikely that someone could access your account information unless they also know your mobile banking/online banking ID and password. However, to be safe, you should contact us as soon as possible at 1-800-EASTERN (327-8376).
