Thank you for your interest in the Celebration of Social Justice on December 13.

We are no longer accepting replies via this site, but welcome you to attend our event at the Boston Sheraton. Registration will be available on-site.

We hope you will join us for our 30th annual Celebration of Social Justice on December 13, 2018, in support of our 2018 Targeted Grant category – Advancing Women.

This year, the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation plans to donate more than $2 million in grants to organizations working to eliminate barriers and advance women in our communities.  The category of Advancing Women honors of our very first depositor in 1818 — recently-widowed Rebecca Sutton, who needed a man to make her deposits at the time.  We chose this category in celebration of the strides made by women since we opened our doors 200 years ago, and in recognition of the work that remains.

The Charitable Foundation’s Targeted Grants are only a portion of our annual giving which, in 2018, will total over $8 million to over 1,600 organizations throughout the Eastern Bank footprint. Over the past few years, we have supported organizations addressing issues related to: workforce development, student success, violence prevention, strengthening families, and immigration. The Celebration of Social Justice was originally created by Wainwright Bank, and we are proud to continue this longstanding tradition since our merger in 2010. The Wainwright Social Justice Award recognizes nonprofits and individuals who have achieved outstanding success in addressing social justice issues. An honorarium of $25,000 accompanies the award.
