Eastern Bank is proud to continue the Celebration of Social Justice event originally created by Wainwright Bank. As part of the celebration, the Wainwright Social Justice Award annually recognizes nonprofits and individuals who have achieved outstanding success in addressing social justice issues.

In 2010, when Eastern Bank acquired Wainwright Bank, it pledged to continue the award and raised the accompanying honorarium to $25,000 from $10,000.

Each year, the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation provides more than $1.5 million of support in grants to community-based organizations working for progress on a specific issue or set of issues facing the communities in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Grants to these organizations are referred to as Targeted Grants. They are intended to support programming that strengthen our communities and enhance the lives of our neighbors in specific and impactful ways. Over the past few years, we have supported organizations addressing issues related to: community healthcare, homelessness, workforce development, student success, violence prevention and strengthening families.

The Targeted Grants are only a portion of our annual giving which, in 2017, will total nearly $7 million to over 1,600 organizations throughout the Eastern Bank footprint.

Giving back to the communities we serve remains a core value at Eastern Bank, and the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation is the way we provide financial support to nonprofit organizations throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Congratulations to the organizations that received support through our Targeted Grant program!
