We invite you to join us for our Celebration of Social Justice on November 18, 2021. Our 2021 event will be hosted virtually this year and will focus on honoring those working towards Economic Mobility and Inclusion, specifically in communities most affected by the COVID pandemic. And this year, we are proud to honor Gladys Vega, Executive Director of La Colaborativa for her commitment to helping local communities in need.
Gladys exemplifies our mission to support, voice and take action toward a more just and equitable world. Her decades of work at La Colaborativa – an organization that empowers Latine immigrants to enhance the social and economic health of their community, and to hold institutional decision-makers accountable – demonstrates her tireless advocacy for this population. Gladys has used her voice to ensure the unique needs of Latine people are met – believing that empowerment of the individual leads to empowerment of the community and that social action is the vehicle through which goals can be achieved. Recognized as one of Chelsea's most prominent and important community leaders, Gladys has received citywide, statewide, and national accolades for her leadership.
The Celebration of Social Justice continues our longstanding tradition of recognizing the good in our communities. The annual Social Justice Award recognizes individuals and/or organizations that have achieved outstanding success in addressing critical social justice issues.
