Grants for good

Eastern Bank and Pine Street Inn: Grants for Good

We focus our giving on supporting organizations that provide services to the underserved and neediest members of our community. We work to ensure that all our neighbors have equal access to employment, education, healthcare, housing, childcare, healthy meals and other essential support services.

Our goal is to support impactful organizations across our geographic footprint, contributing to the health and vitality of the communities we serve. We prefer to make smaller grants rather than a few large ones to increase the number of organizations and communities served.  Download and view list of 2017 Organizations Receiving Donations of $1,000 or more, click here.

Grant Programs

Targeted Grants

Each year, the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation provides more than $1,500,000 of support in grants to community-based organizations working for progress on a specific issue or set of issues facing the communities in Massachusetts and New Hampshire within the Eastern Bank footprint.  Grants to these organizations are referred to as Targeted Grants.  They are intended to support programming that strengthen our communities and enhance the lives of our neighbors in specific and impactful ways.

Over the past few years, we have supported organizations addressing issues related to:  Community Healthcare, Homelessness, Workforce Development, Student Success, Violence Prevention, and Supporting Immigrants.

For 2018, the Targeted Grant category of the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation will be:

ADVANCING WOMEN

Through this year’s Targeted Grant program we intend to support organizations in eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, increasing access and opportunities for women, Transgender women, and girls in the workplace, in school, at home, in the community.  The needs are great and varied.
