Jeff Fuhrer

Jeff works on issues of economic and racial justice. He is a member of a team that is conducting a new survey of household wealth, following up on the 2015 “Color of Wealth” study. He has just recently published a book, The Myth That Made Us, that discusses how false narratives about race and poverty have caused economic inequity and he proposes bold solutions to provide economic opportunity more equally.

Jeff previously served as executive vice president at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. Fuhrer began his career at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. He has been active in economic research for almost four decades. Fuhrer earned an AB in economics with highest honors from Princeton University. He received his MA and PhD in economics from Harvard University.
