Dennis Cataldo is a seasoned executive in the private ambulance and medical transportation industry. As the President and CEO of Cataldo Ambulance Service he routinely engages with municipalities and various health systems to deliver high performance medical transportation and healthcare solutions. Building on the successful platform established by his founding parents, Robert and Diana Cataldo, Dennis joined the family business full time in 1990 and quickly made an impact on the growing business. Dennis has led the company through many strategic initiatives over the past thirty-four years, including the acquisition of Atlantic Ambulance Service in 2003, acquisition of Northshore Ambulance in 2008 and the acquisition of Lyons Ambulance in 2017. Dennis was a driving force in establishing Mobile Integrated Health in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In 2019, Cataldo Ambulance Service made history by having its innovative SmartCare program licensed as the first MIH provider in the State. Through the years, Dennis has been instrumental in establishing primary emergency services agreements with many cities and towns, making Cataldo Ambulance one of the largest emergency ambulance providers in the Northeast.
Today, Cataldo Ambulance Service employs more than 900 qualified staff, operates 150+ vehicles from 25 locations, and provides quality service to more than 160,000 patients a year.
Dennis has been an active volunteer for the American Cancer Society for more than 30 years, having served in multiple leadership roles for both ACS and ACS CAN. In 1993, Dennis started the annual Cataldo Ambulance “Swing for Hope” Golf Tournament, donating over $900,000 in proceeds since its inception. In 2014, Dennis was awarded the prestigious St. George National Award for outstanding service to the ACS and in 2023 he was awarded the Cindy Lombardo Service Above Self Award.
Dennis has also served in a leadership capacity as President or Board Member for many community, business and civic organizations including Rotary International, multiple Chambers of Commerce, Greater Medford VNA, Somerville Home for the Aged and a Mentor for Conexion. Presently, Dennis is Chairman of the Tufts MWH Golf Classic, Board Member of Cambridge Health Alliance Foundation, Eastern Bank Board of Advisors, Director in the Everett Chamber of Commerce, Director of the Northshore Chamber of Commerce, Board Member of the Malden Industrial Aid Society, President of the Massachusetts Ambulance Association and the Region One Director of the American Ambulance Association. He is routinely called upon to serve as the Master of Ceremonies and guest auctioneer for numerous charitable and community events.
Dennis has been presented with numerous nominations, awards and recognitions for his professional and charitable work including: 2009 EMS Leader of the Year Award and the 2013 Presidents Award by the Metropolitan Boston Emergency Medical Services Council, Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow, Malden Chamber of Commerce Executive Directors Award, Salvation Army Community Leadership Award, Lynn Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award, Kiwanis International Community Award, David Solomine Business Excellence Award, Town of Marblehead Business Person of the Year, the 2015 Town of Lynnfield Citizen of the Year and a recipient of the 2021 Distinguished Leader Award presented by the North Shore Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Cataldo is a graduate of Malden Catholic High School and holds a Bachelors degree in Management from Suffolk University. He enjoys the outdoors, skiing, snowmobiling, golf, and hockey. Dennis is an avid car enthusiast.
