Eastern Bank honors Sue Joss with 2017 Community Advocacy Award

BROCKTON, November 10, 2017 – Eastern Bank recently honored Sue Joss with the bank’s 2017 Community Advocacy Award, which recognizes people who have given their time and talent to address a vital need in their community.

Joss, Chief Executive Officer of Brockton Neighborhood Health Center (BNHC), was recognized for her devoted effort to providing healthcare and wellness services to low-income and underserved communities, which include local immigrant populations.

Joss has been CEO of BNHC since it was founded 23 years ago and has been at the helm of its growth throughout that time.  BNHC opened as a mobile medical van, filling the void of being the only town of its size in Massachusetts without a health center.  It has grown to become a five-story facility in downtown Brockton and has more than doubled its capacity to help patients.  Joss is currently leading BNHC through its transformation as an Accountable Care Organization, moving the organization from a fee-for-service to a value-based care model.

She currently serves as Board Chair for the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers and previously served as past Chair of Brockton’s Metro South Chamber of Commerce.

The 2017 Community Advocacy Award is decided by a select group of Eastern Bank executives.  The award aligns with Eastern’s Targeted Grant program each year, which for 2017 the focus is supporting immigrants in our communities.
