Adrian Gonzalez featured in new marketing campaign to promote charitable giving program with Eastern Bank

Promotion runs on social media, inside offices and on EasternBank.com

BOSTON, June 29, 2011 – All-star first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, who is quickly becoming the new face of a baseball franchise, is the centerpiece of a marketing campaign that begins July 1 and touts Eastern Bank’s charitable giving program benefiting select Habitat for Humanity affiliates in eastern Massachusetts.

An image of Gonzalez is featured inside all 95 Eastern Bank offices on large murals, posters and “take-one” brochure slips. Gonzalez is also prominently featured on the homepage of EasternBank.com and on a separate webpage that was created to explain the program: www.easternbank.com/habitat.  In addition, baseball fans are encouraged to keep track of Adrian’s home run progress at www.facebook.com/easternbank.

The materials promote the season-long “Home runs for Habitat” program, which launched April 1.

Here’s how the program works: Every time Gonzalez hits a home run this season, he, along with his wife Betsy, and Eastern Bank donate $1,000 total to select Habitat for Humanity affiliates serving eastern Massachusetts.  As of today, Gonzalez has slugged 16 home runs, meaning a total of $16,000 has already been raised.

“Betsy and I are very pleased with our partnership with Eastern Bank and this program, which benefits local families in need,” said Gonzalez. “It’s our hope that ‘Home runs for Habitat’ raises funds and awareness for the Habitat for Humanity mission.”

At the end of this regular season, the money raised from the program will be divided equally among the following Habitat for Humanity affiliates:

• Buzzards Bay Area Habitat for Humanity
• Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston
• Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod
• Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell
• Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth
• North Shore Habitat for Humanity
• South Shore Habitat for Humanity
