Eastern Bank adds Mobile Deposit to its Mobile Banking app

Depositing a paper check is now as simple as taking a picture

BOSTON, Aug 8, 2012 – Eastern Bank advanced its commitment to pursue mobile solutions that make life easier with today’s release of “Mobile Deposit,” a new feature that allows customers to quickly deposit a paper check using an iPhone® or AndroidTM camera.

The new feature was released today through a free upgrade to Eastern Bank’s mobile banking apps for the iPhone® and AndroidTM. Also part of the app upgrade is an enhancement, which allows mobile banking users to find the closest Eastern Bank office or ATM by using their phone’s location services feature.

“Eastern Bank is committed to providing our customers with products and services that make managing money simple,” said Eastern Bank’s Joe Riley, executive vice president, Director of Retail and Business Banking. “If you can take a photo with a smart phone, you’ll find that depositing a check through ‘Mobile Deposit’ is just as easy.”

Unlike some mobile deposit products, which require customers to download a separate app, Eastern Bank’s Mobile Deposit is fully integrated into its existing Mobile Banking app.

Eastern Bank in 2007 was among the first banks in the country to offer Mobile Banking. In 2011, Eastern Bank launched new apps for the iPhone® and AndroidTM smart phones. For more information, visit
