Charitable Giving
The Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation is a leader in corporate philanthropy and serves as the charitable arm of Eastern Bank. For almost 200 years, Eastern Bank has contributed to the health and vitality of the communities we serve. This is evidenced through our extraordinary commitment to provide financial support to organizations throughout our footprint. We do this by funding local organizations providing services to the communities we serve.
We champion organizations providing services to people in historically-marginalized communities. We work to ensure that all of our neighbors have equal access to food, shelter, employment, education, child care and other basic necessities of life. We continue to believe that we can make the most impact through numerous smaller grants rather than a few large grants.
Our commitment is to support all of the communities we serve. Making over 2,000 grants a year, we impact geographic communities from southern New Hampshire to Cape Cod and throughout the South Shore, North Shore, Metro West, Merrimack Valley and Greater Boston. We also impact demographic communities across a wide spectrum of communities of color. We believe in ensuring all our neighbors have access to basic human services. To that end, we focus our giving efforts on giving to nonprofits that provide opportunities for employment, education, healthcare, housing, child care, healthy meals and other essential support services. Targeted Grants
Each year, the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation provides more than $1.5 million in grants to community-based organizations working for progress on a specific issue or set of issues facing our communities in the Eastern Bank footprint. Grants to these organizations are referred to as Targeted Grants. They are intended to support programming that strengthens our communities and enhances the lives of our neighbors in specific and meaningful ways.
