Our Mission

Through its annual Targeted Grant program, the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation seeks to support a specific mission area.  In 2014, the Charitable Foundation plans to grant over $1 million to organizations that strive to improve the quality of education for children in kindergarten through Grade 12; dubbed "K-12 Student Success".

This commitment will be awarded to non-profit organizations across Eastern Massachusetts working to ensure all students have the opportunity to be successful in their academic careers.  Our goal is for all children in our communities to graduate from high school educated, informed and prepared for a sustainable career and/or the rigors of higher education.  Programs to be supported include, but are not limited to:

In-school Academic Enrichment: programs that support students during their school day

After-school Academic Enrichment: programs that support students after their school day

Technology Enhancements: providing resources to students with limited access to necessary technology

Mentoring: in and out of school programs designed to support students academically and emotionally

Eliminating Barriers to Success: programs addressing the myriad of complex issues impacting student success

The Charitable Foundation plans to award grants ranging from $10,000 to $50,000, with the majority of grants in the $10,000 to $15,000 range. Grant requests must be submitted by March 1, 2014.

Additional information on our Targeted Grant program is contained in the "Grant Programs" section.

Our Focus
Support organizations providing services to the underserved and neediest members of our community.  We work to ensure that all our neighbors have equal access to employment, education, healthcare, housing, child care, healthy meals and other essential support services.

Our Goal
Support vibrant organizations across our geographic footprint, contributing to the health and welfare of the communities we serve.  We prefer to make a significant number of smaller grants rather than a few larger ones, to organizations making a meaningful impact in our neighborhoods.

2013

Grants totaling $5,001,396 were made during 2013 to charitable organizations throughout Eastern Massachusetts. Our grants generally range in size from $50 to $50,000.
